Possidi

Accommodation

Possidi sits on the west coast of Kassandra and features a big sand dune stretching into the Aegean Sea. Overlooked by the old castle of Mende it's a tourist village but a very peaceful place stay. The sandy peninsula reaches out for hundreds of meters into the sea and offers plenty of space for sunbathing and swimming in the crystal clear waters.

Poseidon Sanctuary & Ancient Mende

Mende was founded in the 8 th century BC from settlers of Eretria on the island of Evia. The city got famous by exporting local wine. The ruins of the city of Mende today are found on the plateau and slopes of a hill south of Kalandra near the Hotel Mendi. The sanctuary of Mende was dedicated to Poseidon. It is one of the oldest in Greece and was in use from the 12th to the 2nd century BC .
