Halkidiki (or Chalkidiki) is located in the southeastern portion of Central Macedonia. The region consists of a large peninsula in the northwestern Aegean Sea, resembling a hand with three peninsulas, Kassandra, Sithonia, and Agion Oros, which contains Mount Athos and its monasteries.
